Setting Goals For 2010

Share

As we approach the end of the year, we all look forward to a new beginning and fresh start. It is a time to think about what we want to achieve in the coming year and how we can use our strengths to achieve those goals.

It is also a time to take stock of our lives and make sure that we have been doing the things that we really enjoy. It is a time to reflect and decide whether we are happy with the way that our lives are going. Are we happy with where we are? Are we happy with who we are? Are we happy in our relationships? Are we happy in our careers? Are we happy with our finances? Are we happy with our health? If not, then why not?

A New Year is also a great time to set some new goals. A lot of people make New Years resolutions but very few actually keep them. If you don’t have any goals, then you are probably not making much progress towards achieving your dreams. So here are some suggestions for setting new goals that you can achieve.

1. Set goals that are realistic and achievable. Don’t set yourself up for failure by setting unrealistic goals that are too difficult. You will find that you will give up before you even start. If you set yourself up for failure, then you will never achieve anything.

2. Decide on one or two areas of your life that you want to improve. You may want to lose weight, save money, stop smoking, change your career or do something creative. Whatever it is that you want to achieve, decide on a goal and write it down.

3. Think about the steps that you need to take to achieve your goal. Write down the steps that you need to do to reach your goal. What actions do you need to take? How much time will you need to devote to this project? Do you need to make changes to your lifestyle or your environment? What do you need to do to make this happen?

4. Set dates that you will achieve your goals. Don’t just say that you will achieve your goal by next year. Instead, set a date that you will achieve your goal. This will help you to stay focused on reaching your goal and will help you to avoid procrastination.

5. Make a list of all the obstacles that you might face in achieving your goal. What will you need to do to overcome these obstacles?

6. Think about the rewards that you will receive from achieving your goal. What will happen once you have achieved your goal? Will you feel happier? Will you be able to do more of the things that you love?

7. Think about how you will celebrate when you have reached your goal. Who will you tell about your achievement? What will you do to celebrate?

8. Write down all the reasons why you should achieve your goal. Write down everything that you will gain from achieving your goal.

9. Once you have written down all of your reasons, ask yourself whether you still want to achieve your goal. If you no longer want to achieve your goal, then don’t. If you still want to achieve your goals, then take action.

10. Keep track of your progress. If you don’t know where you are going, then how will you ever know when you get there?
